The Samba is a Latin dance originally from Brazil. Internationally, Samba is danced with a partner on a ballroom dance floor, but in Brazil, Samba is mostly danced independently – its rhythmic energy being suited to celebrations and carnivals. Samba is characterized by rapid steps and rocking, and swaying hip motions. In competition, Samba routines often end dramatically, with dancers throwing back their heads and throwing out their arms to finish the performance. Samba appears effortless, but is actually tricky to master. Samba can be taught from either the International or the American Syllabus, which contain different patterns and requirements. Whichever syllabus you choose, you’ll have a great time learning and dancing to upbeat Samba music with our world class instructors.
