Often called “the dance of love,” the Rumba is a very sexy and sultry partner dance characterized by provocative hip action and rhythmic body movements. Rumba can be taught in either American or International dance styles. The main difference is that American style uses the “Cuban motion” which calls for a bending and straightening of the knee to produce a desired hip-swaying movement. In International style, knee bending is not required as it causes similar footwork to appear entirely different. Whichever style you choose to learn, you’ll have a blast dancing the evening away to powerful Latin music. Taking Rumba lessons provides a good general repertoire of Latin dance moves, giving you a good foundation to build on for learning more advanced moves.
