Bachata is an intimate Latin partner dance with a side-to-side hip swaying motion, and a mirroring of the leading partner, which makes the dancers appear to move in synchronization. Bachata originated in the Dominican Republic, and has since branched off in many different directions. While there are several different types of Bachata dance, there are specific elements (such as quick steps and sensuality) which distinguish Bachata from other forms. Traditional Bachata is the most common form, and is very romantic in appearance, with a close connection between the partners. DANCEnergy’s Bachata lessons are fun, rewarding, and a great starting point for anyone looking to try out Latin Dancing for the first time.
